基本的に、ホラー映画は嫌いだ。
いや怖いものは全部嫌いという方が正確かな。原作が鈴木光司氏ということでついつい観てしまった。
（ちなみに氏は「楽園」というラブ大河ロマンでメジャーデビューしている）

観た後は後悔しまくった。

怖い、怖い、怖いのである。

信じ易い性質というか迷信深い性質なので、観終わった後は、ネット上で知らない人々にこの作品を観るようにすすめまくった私は、製作者側の罠にはまっていたともいえる。
お見事な作品である。（観るなと書いたけど、観る人がいるんだろうな~。）

これまで、ホラー映画は只々恐ろしい場面を観客に見せることに力を入れていた。しかし、この作品は四谷怪談以来古くから伝わる日本人が本能的に怖がる要素を加え、さらにビデオの謎解きの要素を入れることでサスペンスにも仕立て、ホラー映画の新たな境地を確立したと思う。

「リング」は怖いのだけれど、一度見るとあまりにもその印象が強くて目が離せなくなる。その理由の一つは恐怖の根源が最後まで実態を見せてくれないからだろう。
冥界のように全体的に仄暗い雰囲気や人間が嫌うようなノイズ音が上手に入れられており、観客は心の中で不安を大きくしながらクライマックスを迎えられるようになっていることもすばらしい。そして、あれ。

人々は余りにも恐ろしいものに寡黙しては凍り付き、瞬きをすることもできずに凝視する。映画が終わった後でも何度も頭の中に想像してしまい、その恐怖が何倍にもなる。
皆様にはこの気持ちは分かって頂けると思う。
