５話入っており、２巻、３巻は４話だけですので、一話分お得です。
お話は「ジェットエンジンのトーマス」、「ハーヴィーのはつしごと」、「ソルティのひみつ」、「せかいさいきょうのきかんしゃ」、「ふたごのけんか」になります。

この巻で登場する新しい仲間はハーヴィーとソルティーだけです。

あとはおなじみの仲間がたくさん登場。
クランキー、メイビス、ディーゼル、二組のふたごのきかんしゃなど、サブキャラクターもいっぱい出てくるので子供もとっても喜びますよ。

DVDですのでもちろん英語バージョン（英語字幕も選べます）も楽しめます。

新きかんしゃトーマス シリーズ3(1)として下記5話を収録、いずれも第6シーズンのエピソード。
第138話ジェットエンジンのトーマス(原題:Thomas The Jet　Engine#152.)
第131話ハーヴィーのはつしごと(原題:Harvey To The Rescue#133.)
第132話ソルティーのひみつ(原題:Salty's Secret#132.)
第144話せかいさいきょうのきかんしゃ(原題:The World's Strongest Engine#141.)
第141話ふたごのけんか(原題:Twin Trouble#140.)
映画1作めの製作と同時期か映画後の製作なので、映像技術的には初期エピソードより向上している一方で、オードリー牧師の原作の内、映像化し易い物が無くなった為、映像作品オリジナルエピソードばかりになった。そのためか？ストーリーや世界観にブレが出始めている。詳論するスペースが無いのでこの件は省略。
本DVDからテーマ別編集を止めているが、収録順序はどういう意味があるか不明。また収録話数が4~5話になり、割高感が強い。一方でやっと副音声収録と英語字幕収録が実現、日本語字幕は未対応(次期シリーズで対応)。高画質･高音質ではないが大きな破綻は無くアナログの地上波を録画したものよりは遥かにいい。
　ストーリーにはやや不満があるものの、トーマスの世界がさらに広がり映像的にも向上した。あと画質をもう少し良くして、DVDの機能を生かし楽しめる工夫(日本語・原語以外にMEトラックの収録とか)があれば･･･。でも、ファンならたとえ割高だろうと時計とPKマークが無く、英字幕を呼び出せる本巻を買わないわけにはいかない。

トーマスシリーズ第３弾。前のシリーズからはきかんしゃ達も一新され、さらに模型の密度が高くなりハイクォリティ。１巻で５話入っており、それだけでもお買い得なのに５話ともウイットに富んで面白い。どの話も甲乙つけがたいが、３番目「ソルティーのひみつ」がオススメ。

ソドー島にやって来たディーゼルきかんしゃソルティー。個性たっぷりの彼はビルとベンにヤキモチを焼かれます。だれも真似が出来ないソルティーの秘密とは？脚本がすばらしく、シリーズを通しても１、２を争う出来。

もしこのシリーズ３の中で、どの巻がいいか迷われる方がいらっしゃったら、この巻をオススメします。マチガイナイ！
