   アーケードで人気の、独特の武器を操って戦う3D格闘ゲーム。重厚な世界観と個性的なキャラクターに加え、独自のシステムでの息詰まる攻防を楽しむことができる。単なる移植に終わっていないPS2版のモードも収録。戦闘中にフィールド内を自由に動ける「8WAY-RUN」というシステムによって、常に向き合ったバトルだけではない駆け引きが生まれている。

   相手の攻撃をさばくことができるガードインパクトや、ワザの能力を上げることができるソウルチャージなどのシステムはもちろん健在だ。また、家庭用版だけのモードとして「ウエポンマスターモード」が追加され、世界を旅しながらミッションをクリアし、武器を集めていくことができる。

   ゲストキャラクターとして任天堂の人気キャラクター「リンク」が登場しており、彼にまつわるエピソードをぜひ明らかにして欲しいところ。3D武器格闘というジャンルを確立させ、グラフィックの美しさやキャラクター設定でファンからの高い評価を得ている「ソウル」シリーズで、華麗な剣士の戦いを堪能してほしい。（樋口浩二）

私はこのゲームが発売してだいぶ後に買ったのですが、「なんでこんな面白いゲームを知らなかったんだ！？」と驚愕するぐらいのものです。

グラフィックは綺麗でとてもリアル、8way-runシステムという空間を自由に利用した戦法、多彩な技の数々、ゲストキャラとしてリンクの参戦、奥が深い要素ばかりです。格ゲーマニアの方も初心者の方も絶対に楽しめます！やりこめばやりこむほど面白いです。

このゲームは３機種同時発売のタイトルでそれぞれにゲストキャラクターがいるのだが、ゲームキューブ版はなんと「ゼルダの伝説」の「リンク」。ＰＳ２、Ｘｂｏｘのゲストキャラクターより魅力を感じるしソウルキャリバーの世界観にあっていると思う。ソウルキャリバーは各キャラクターのストーリーもしっかりしているからゼルダの伝説のファンの人も十分に楽しむことができると思う。

ソウルキャリバーII」では、前作で評価の高かったプレイアビリティの高さを、そのまま維持しています。
ガチャプレイでもそこそこ遊べる、しかしやりこめばやりこむほど強くなれる、キャラを動かしているだけで楽しい、という、前作で好評をいただいた部分を継承し、さらに自然な操作とモーションを強化しています。
8方向へ自由に移動できる8-Way Runシステムにモーションブレンドを付加し、「走りながら」「歩きながら」といった、より自然なアクションを実現。
また、縦斬り、横斬り、避けの関係をより強化し、プレイヤーが意図した操作をストレスなくゲームに反映させる新システムを構築。
