このアルバムはキース・ジャレットの作品ではあるが、ヤン・ガルバレクの作品としても素晴らしい出来栄えだ。この人のソプラノ・サックスを僕は氷のサックスと例えたい。氷といっても冷たいのでなく、氷のように強く美しいのだ。最初にこの人の「ウィッチ・タイ・ト」のサックスを聴いた時の感動は今も忘れられない。ジャレットのピアノも全アルバムで一番暖かい気がする。忘れる事ができない、何度も何度もこれからも聴くであろう名盤。

この北欧のメンバーとのカルテット録音は、皆、美しい作品が多いが、この「マイ・ソング」はその中でも最も美しい傑作と言えるだろう。表題曲は、涙が流れるほど美しい。かつて、武道館のソロコンサートのアンコールでこれを弾いてくれた時は、感激で胸が一杯でした。キースとヤン・ガルバレクのコンビはこの後、消滅して、ピアノトリオのスタンダーズでの活動に移行するが、もう一度、このカルテットで録音してくれないかなあ。そう思うほど、良いアルバムです。

人間40の声を聴くというまでもなく、そもそも「花のように」全ての瞬間に生きつつ死につつあるものとしては（笑）、自分の葬式のことだってキチンと考えておかなければならんのだ。そんなわけで、葬儀屋さんには、ワタクシの葬式まわりはキースものでまとめていただくよう、お願いしたいと思うのである。やはり、お通夜ともなれば長くやってほしいのでサンベア＋ブルーノートが必要だろう。荼毘にふされるような劇的な状況なら残氓ぐらいかけないと誰も泣いてくれないのではないか？全てが終わって家族がほっとしたころにはステアケイスでもやってほしい。新盆のころはやはりスピリッツでお出迎えしてほしい。しかしながら、告別式のメインエヴェントたる出棺の時、花で飾っていただいて、ふたをされる瞬間にはやはり、マイソングが流れていてほしいなぁ、と思うのだ。それだけで人生報われるというか、いろいろあったけど、よかったねぇ、みんなもがんばれよ、ツー感じになるじゃあないですか。
とはいえ、まだまだ死にたくない、人生捨てたもんじゃあない、これもマイソングが思わせてくれることの一つである。
