アカペラ・コーラスによる編曲集です。宇宙の無重力空間にいざなわれるようなシュールな美しさに思わず息を呑みました。人間の声とは思えないような天上的な美しさと同時に、人間の肉声のもつ艶めかしさが微妙に入り混じった響きに包まれて、しばしば時のたつのを忘れてしまうかのようです。

曲はバーバーのアダージョ、マーラーの第五交響曲のアダージョのほか、ショパンのピアノ曲、ウォルフやベルクの歌曲、ドビュッシー、ラベルのものなどが並んでいますが、オリジナルの曲の性格などはほとんど関係がありません。単なる編曲を超えています。バーバーの曲には何と「アニュス・デイ」の歌詞が、マーラーのものにもアウグスト・フォン・プラーテンという人の詩が歌われ、これがまた独特の響きを生み出しています。またバッハの曲を編曲したという一曲は、ほとんど原型をとどめていません。
