ヨーゼフ・クリップスが過小評価されすぎだというグールドの声は知っておりましたが、実際に買ってみて、これが驚きでした。

ハイドン、モーツァルト指揮者としてはなんとなくイメージが重なりますが、ここに収められたロマン派の各曲もアーティキュレーションが生き生きとして、各声部はバランスよい見事なできです。安全運転でこじんまりまとめたなんてことは全然ないです。

曲目を挙げておきます。ハイドン交響曲第94番・99番、モーツァルト31番・39番・40番・41番、シューベルト未完成(これがすごく情念うずまく演奏)、シューマンの4番、ブラームスの4番、ドヴォルザークチェロ協奏曲(ソロはザラ・ネルソヴァ)、チャイコフスキーの5番で、後は小曲がほんのちょっとです。
