個人的に言うと、僕の音楽好き、特にロック好きな遍歴の原点は彼女の「TOUGH BOY」からなので、どうしても思い入れが強くなってしまう。しかしその気持ちと同時に、素直に彼女の曲に向き合うと、８０年代に作られたこれらの歌詞の中にある言葉、フレーズごとの流れには、今の時代にも共通のメッセージが時々あるような気がする。
人が苦難に向かう時の反抗心、挫折したときの前向きさ。思春期に向けるノスタルジックでモラトリアムに甘い時代への羨望。そして、そこから脱却しつつある卒業の季節の心情。
普遍的な己の青春への正真正銘な気持ちをシンプルにあらわした歌詞はきっとずっと愛されるものだと思う。

なぜか久しぶりにふられ気分でロックンロールを聞きたいな~と検索したところ、Bestが発売されていることに気づきました。
まだ小学生の頃に、車の中のラジオで聞いていたのを思い出しました。
非常に懐かしく、また最近のJ-POPにはない、シンプルな歌詞・テンポ・私は大好きです。
皆さんにもお勧めしたい一品です。

名前に☆マークを入れているミュージシャンで思い出すとすれば、つのだ☆ひろ、ダンス☆マン、...、もう１人忘れちゃいけないのがこのＴＯＭ☆ＣＡＴである。アニメ「北斗の拳」が好きだった方はその関係で知っているかもしれない。このＣＤは「北斗の拳」の主題歌であった "TOUGH BOY","LOVE SONG"を含む全１４曲という内容になっている（注：主題歌といっても "ユワッシャー"ではない）。その２曲の他にはスマッシュヒットデビューシングル "ふられ気分でRock'n'Roll "を収録。個人的には３曲目に収録されてる "LADY BLUE" もオススメ。
