この企画物がどのような経緯で出来たのかはわからないが、ナイアガラー＆フィレスフリークが期待して聴くとがっくりくることは間違いないだろう。
私もダーレン・ラブやロニー・スペクターが大瀧作品を歌うとしたらどうなるのかと聞くまでは楽しみにしていたから。

まず一番まずいのはアレンジである。ナイアガラでもウォールオブサウンドでもない、８０年代によく見られたチープなシンセ音が気持ちを萎えさせるような安っぽいアレンジ。
大瀧本人あるいは井上鑑などナイアガラ関係者によるアレンジが望ましかった。

もう一点はダーレンやロニーの歌唱力が全盛期に比べると格段に落ちること。ダーレンのパワフルなシャウトやロニーのハスキーで色っぽいヴォーカルとはほど遠いのである。
聴かなければよかったと思う筆頭のアルバム。

大瀧のリゾートものを外国人が英語で歌うとさぞかしムードがあるだろうとかなり期待させるが、実際に聴いてみるとボーカルの声質や曲のアレンジにはリゾートもののムードはまるでない。唯一、ムードがあるのはジャケットの絵だけに余計始末が悪い。

レンタルしたCDで聴きましたが、オリジナルの繊細さとは全く異なるアレンジでがっかり。他のレビュー通りでした。レンタルしてよかった。
