元々、IEEE1394という規格はデイジーチェーンに対応していてハブがいらない作りになっているのですが、そのデイジーチェーンがかなり不安定なのはご承知の通りです。
複数の外付けHDDを数珠繋ぎにすると遅延エラーがでることもままあります。
その解決策としてこれを購入したのですが、すべてのポートにHDDを差しても問題なく使用できました。自分の環境ではアダプターも不要でした。本体も熱を発していないので長持ちしそうです。
かなりニッチな商品なので、生産中止になる前にお手元に確保しておくことをお勧めします。

複数の外付けFireWireHDDの増設と共にオーディオインターフェイスの動作が不安定になり、この製品を試してみました。
オーディオインターフェイスの動作は安定し起動時間も外付け機器を繋いでいないかのように速くなりました！。
