エレファントカシマシへのトリビュート・アルバム。孤高の存在として歩んできた彼らに対して、敬意の念をもつミュージシャンが多いのは頷ける。興味深いのは参加アーティストで、HUSKING BEE、POTSHOT、石野卓球、DMBQ、怒髪天、Syrup 16gなど、個性的な顔ぶれが並んでいる。原曲にできるだけ忠実でありつつ、それぞれの特徴が上手く表現されているのは聴きどころ。「浮雲男」のリミックスと「星の砂」の豪快さはすごい。突然の解散をしたGOING STEADYのミネタ(vo)が銀杏BOYZとして絶唱しているのも話題の一つだ。 (土屋京輔) --- 2003年04月号

初期のエレカシの曲から、誰もが知っている曲までカヴァーされたこのアルバム。日本のテクノ王、石野卓球から、先日解散したGOING STEADYのミネタの新ユニット、銀杏BOYZまで、様々な人物が参加している。

多くのバンドが初期のエレカシに影響されていると発言していることからわかるように、参加した人たちが、かなりの意識の高さで取り組んでいることがわかる。最近は活動を控えめにしているエレカシをこのアルバムを通して聴くことで、エレカシをきく人が増えそうである。

今、人気絶頂のバンドが多く参加しているので、そのバンドのファンも聴く事になるだろうが、そのファンの人たちは自分の愛するバンドのエレカシに対する想いを感じ、好きなバンドがエレカシのことが好きだからではなく、エレカシ自体に興味を抱いていって欲しい。

エレカシファンには、正直期待はずれな感じでした。
やっぱり、エレカシの曲は宮本浩次が歌うことに意味があると改めて思いました。
何て言うか、このアルバムは軽すぎるんですよね。
やっぱりエレカシの曲は、宮本浩次が作る独特の世界でないと、良さがでません！！

タイトルにカヴァーアルバムとある通り、いわゆるトリビュートとは趣向が違うような気がしました。ロッ●ングオン・ジャパンの人が集めたんでしょうかね、わかんないですけど。そんな気がした面子です。どんなトリビュートにもある「お前、特別好きじゃないクセに参加してるだろ」ってのがいくつかあって。それでいて「何で○○が参加してないんだ！」っていうのも。今回も個人的に嫌いな人達がいくつかいまして。やっぱり半分コピーみたいなアレンジだったり、ふざけたアカペラとか面白くない事をやってくれてて不愉快でした。でもキングブラザーズ、BAZRA、怒髪天が特に良かったです。石野卓球のリミックスも面白かったです。
