   2003年はすでに2枚の素晴らしいジャズ・アルバム（それぞれロイ・ヘインズ、スコ・ロ・ホ・フォーによるもの）に参加しているギタリストのジョン・スコフィールド。本作は、ジャンルにとらわれないかつての彼に戻ったかのような内容だ。全11トラックが放つ冒険的なグルーヴは、コンテンポラリー・ジャズのファンのみならず、ジャム・バンド、インストゥルメンタル・ヒップ・ホップ、ダンス・ミュージックのリスナーをも魅了するに違いない。半分近くのチューンでジョン・スコフィールド・バンドがコラボレーションしているが、このバンドの2002年のアルバム『Uberjam』より曲の構造がしっかりとしている。ジャム・セッション色は薄れ、バンドの力量、ダーティーな効果音、印象的なリフ、スコフィールドが投げかける息の長いメロディーを楽しむためのリズミカルなショーケースと化した内容だ。とりわけ最初の2曲と「Four on the Floor」の衝撃度とノリは群を抜く。フェラ・クティのアフロビートに対するトリビュートといえそうな「Thikhahali」もたいへん興味深い。「Philopiety」のゴーゴー風リフ、「Freakin' Disco」と「Every Night Is Ladies Night」のインダストリアル・ビートなど、ミュージシャンひとりひとりが全編にわたりスコフィールドのゲームに喜々として乗せられている感じだ。（Mark Ruffin, Amazon.com）

ジョン・スコフィールドはトラディショナルなジャズもやるが、もっとも彼らしいのがこういったフュージョン作品だ。今回の作品はリズムだけでなく、メロディー的にも非常に優れており、"A GO GO"以来のスコフィールドの傑作といってよい。ジャズ史に新たな1ページを刻む名作。

前作品＝ウーバージャム＝と同じ路線なアプローチ。でも多面性において優れている＝ナイジェリアンフレイバーを持つ楽曲、
デトロイトソウル＝ドラマテックス＝のカバー、を演奏。あまたのスムーズジャズのだめなバンドよりも解釈力は深いところがまる。

メンタルな面で知的でありながら同時にファンキーバイブを忘れないバランス感覚の勝利。クレバーでありながら同時に熱いギタリスト。
優れたインプロバイザーぶりも健在。柔軟性が鋭いギタリスト
