ゼフィレッリの演出は、Ｏ・ハッセーが出演した「ロミオと
ジュリエット」の衣装の絢爛さをそのまま舞台にという感じ
で、舞台装置と衣装と照明がこれまた素晴らしい。

リュー役のソプラノも良かったし、少々お歳は召しているエ
ヴァ・マルトンの姫も圧倒的な個性出していたし、カリフ役
のドミンゴがトゥーランドット姫に一目惚れし、周囲の反対
を押し切り「この想いをとげさせてくれ！」というくだりは
（男ならでは？）…ジーンとしてしまった。

他の「トゥーランドット」も観たけれど、これがあらゆる面
で一番楽しめますよ。廉価版となり、値段も手頃。もしもプ
ッチーニの「トゥーランドット」を買うなら迷わずこの１枚
ですね。

いろいろクラシックは聴きますが、歌劇は苦手と思っていました。
だいぶ昔、私が学生の頃ＴＶの深夜番組で
２時間くらいのクラシック特集を放映した番組を見た時に、
何故かこの『トゥーランドット』という言葉が
頭に焼き付いて、気にはしていたものの、すすんで聴こうとも、ましては
見に行こうとも思っていませんでした。

たまたま、他のクラシックＤＶＤを探していた際、皆さんのコメントを読み、
また値段も手頃なので試しに買って見ました。
感動しました。最後は涙が止まりませんでした。
何度も何度も繰り返し見ています。トゥーランドットもティムールも、
カラフはもちろんリューも皇帝もピンポンパンも、それぞれが良い味を

出していて。私も｢北京の民よ｣は大好きになってしまいました。
レバインの指揮振りをもう少し見たかったですが、
私の記念すべき歌劇デビューの第１作目になりました。

このDVDの最大の売りはゼフィレッリの演出に尽きます。
特に宮殿の場面の華やかさはこの上もありません。
史実に照らし合わせるとどうかはわかりませんが、
音楽自体も豪華なこのオペラには、
現代劇風の安っぽい舞台より歴史を前面に出した舞台の方がずっと楽しめます。

歌手は勿論ドミンゴは５重○です。
２幕のトゥーランドット姫のアリアのすぐあとの掛け合い、
最高音で声がひっくり返ってしまいますが、
その１点でもってドミンゴのすばらしさに傷がつくものでもありません。
「誰も寝てはならない」は少し大人しすぎる演奏になっていますが、
１幕の「泣くなリュー」からの盛り上がりは素晴らしいです。
マルトンのタイトルロールは、可もなく不可もなくといった感じ。
トゥーランドットはこれくらいの声が必要だろうけど、
見た目が「絶世の美女姫」とは思えないところが残念。
リュー役のソプラノはとっても清楚でいい感じです。

メトロポリタンオペラのビデオでは逸品の一つです。
