このDVDで初めてカルメンを体験しました。聴きなじみのある音楽、メトロポリタンの豪華な演出、と十分にカルメンを楽しむことができました。同じメトでの「ボエーム」を演じていたときのカレーラスにはやや演技に不満でしたが、ここでの演技、歌唱はすばらしく、さすが三大テノール！私一人で見ていたのですが、聞き覚えのある音楽に誘われたのか、母が来て、父が来て、祖母まで来て、隣の部屋でアニメを見ていた娘たちまで来て、気が付くと家族全員興味深々見入ってしまう始末でした。華やかで美しい、誰もが楽しめる作品です。

定価2,940円でカレーラスを迎えたメトロポリタン歌劇場のオペラが観られると言う魅力と期間限定発売という制約から現在はマーケットプレースでしか購入できませんが、それも11月までの辛抱です。11月12日にもう一度同じ価格で売り出されます。今回も期間限定なので購入希望の方はお早めに。

カルメンを演じたバルツｧは、この時４３歳。
とてもそうは思えないほど若々しく、絶頂期の歌唱を聴かせる。

また、ホセ・カレーラスも白血病に罹る直前の演技で、
これ以上ない歌唱が素晴らしい。

カルメンの決定版です。
