１９９４年１２月のコベントのライブ収録です。
ＤＶＤなので画面が大変鮮明です。
ゲオルギューが最初に、黒髪をアップにして白いシフォンのドレスで登場しただけで、「ブラボー！」です。

顔も肩も手も白く塗って、あまり濃くない色の口紅を厚めに塗って、まさに「薄幸の結核の美女」という感じでした。
田舎の別荘の場面では、「昼間」を演出して窓から白色光を出しているのですが、ゲオルギューのアップは白色光を浴びてもとても美しかったです。
オペラは顔じゃないですけど、ここまで美しいとホント、うっとりしてしまいます。

そして、「美しいゲオルギュー」をさんざん強調しておいて、３幕の病室の場面の彼女は「老婆」のようにしてしまい、その落差がまた効果的でした。
もちろん、歌もすばらしいですよ。
舞台装置は、以前ロイヤルバレエでも感じましたが、豪華で「立体的」です。
賭博パーティの場面では豪華な天上を斜めに出して、視覚効果を狙っています。

「椿姫」は３本目ですが、やっぱりこれが一番ですね。
でもちょっとだけ不満なのが、賭博パーティ場面での「ドゥフォールを愛しているのか？」のやりとりが素直過ぎ。
ここだけはグラインドボーンの方がひねってあって良かったかな？

ゲオルギューに始まり、ゲオルギューに終った素晴らしい「椿姫」でございます。晩年で初めて「椿姫」を指揮するショルティーもウィーンフィル？って思うくらいオケから純粋で輝いた響きを導いています。アルフレート役のロパードもドラマティックな名演で素晴らしかった。父親役のヌッチも本当に殺してやろか？ってくらい悪そうなオヤジ振りで白熱の名演技でしたよん。しかし！そんなことすら忘れてしまうゲオルギューの魅力！このＤＶＤはこれに尽きるのです。あまりの儚い美しさに「ああ、オジさんが守ってあげるから、死んじゃダメダメ」って涙する、それほど美しいんですゲオルギューが。演出も素晴らしい！本で読んだ人も是非観てちょ。

一幕のゲオルギュー
二幕のゲオルギュー
三幕のゲオルギュー

美しい・・・。この人はやはり希代の舞台役者だと思いました。端麗な容姿とブリランテな歌声両方を兼ね備えるゲオルギュー。しばらくは彼女の時代が続きそうです。

アルフレード演じるロパードは、音程の正確さが特に素晴らしい。アクートはあまり強くないけれど、高音を出す際「ムリしてますよ」的な雰囲気が全くない。このひとも、完全にアルフレードになりきっていました。名演技です。

そしてレオ・ヌッチ。やっぱりこの人は凄かった。とても深い役作りです。そして、何といっても美声。今作では、その美声が役の憎憎しさを際立たせています。

全体として、演出家の実力を感じました。特にキャスト陣は、振る舞いだけ見ていても、最高の演劇として成り立っていて、この舞台に掛ける想いの深さを感じました。

素晴らしい名演です。
