どこかで読んだ記事によると､マルコヴィッチ自身も大笑いしながら観たらしい｡

ものすごく､アイデアがいい!!
人間の中に人間が入れるなんて…｡

個人的に好きな場面は､マルコヴィッチ自身が自分の中に入ってしまって､目に入るものすべてがマルコヴィッチ(レストランの中のメニューの字もマルコヴィッチしか描いていません)｡それに､混乱しながら“マルコヴィッチ?"と叫ぶところが好き｡

ブラック・ジョークを映画にした作品。ジョークが合わない人には全く面白くないかもしれない。合う人は、嵌ってしまうだろう。

物語は、生活に苦しむ人形士ビルが就職活動の末雇われる。そこはビルの７1/2階にあった。そこで働く女性マキシンに一目惚れ。そして彼の働く部屋に”穴”があった。その穴は、ジョン・マルコヴィッチの脳に繋がっていた。ビルはマキシンと共にその穴で商売を始めた。最初に穴に嵌ったのはビルの奥さんロッテ。彼女は、性倒錯を起こし、マキシンをビルと争うことになる。ビルは、ロッテを檻に閉じ込めマルコヴィッチの中に。そして８ヶ月住みつづける。しかし、そのマルコヴィッチの穴は、他人の肉体を借りて生き続ける人たちの計画下にあった。圧巻は、ロッテがマキシンをマル??ヴィッチの脳の中で追い掛け回すシーン。子供の頃からのマルコヴィッチの記憶の中を追いかけてゆく。自分の頭の中を実は他人に操られている風刺とも受取れるし、頭の中で囁く声の正体を映像化したとも言える。スパイク・ジョーンズらしい異色の映画といえる。

　劇場で観た時，ラストのブルーが限りなく澄んで見えた。救われなかった魂を，鮮やかなブルーで締め括るセンス。
　全てが閉塞的な状況にある時分，あらためて観直す。ジョン･キューザック演じる人形師に感情移入しつつ，彼の境遇を笑った。他人を笑えない境遇にある者が，だ。ハッピーエンドの映画には激しく打ちひしがれる。逆に悲しい幕切れには切なくなる。一見丸く収まったようでいて，人形師の魂のみ永遠に迷い彷徨う。それが妙に切なく，泣きたい気持ちで笑ってしまう，まるで魂を乗っ取られたような自分がいた。
