　朝10時。今日はお父さんの誕生日。お父さんが寝室からおりてくるのをダイニングで待つのは、美しい妻、妹思いの長男、彼氏とのデートに忙しそうな長女、ちょっと太りぎみで近眼の次男坊、そして今も厳しく息子を愛する老母。マドリッドのなんでもない三世代家族のはずなのですが、実はこの一家にはある秘密があります。

　そして、車がパンクしてしまった妙齢の女性が電話を借りるためにこの一家に闖入してきます。招かれざる客であるこの女性の前で一家は必死になって秘密を隠し通そうとするのですが…。

　この家族の設定が秀逸です。実に面白い。似たような家族は90年代に日本でもちょっと話題になったと記憶しています。

　基本的にはコメディに分類されるべき作品ですが、観る者を大きな緊張の渦!に巻き込む、スリラーのような趣を持った作品といえるでしょう。私は大いに楽しめました。

　ただしこの映画の弱点は、この家族の秘密がどういう事情のもとに生まれたものなのかが最後まで明らかにされない点です。それだけ一層ミステリアスな雰囲気を保ち続けることになるともいえますが、謎解き物語を求める向きには不満が残るかもしれません。

　余談ですがスペインでは「ハッピー・バースデイ」の歌をスペイン語で歌うということがこの映画で分かり、興味深く感じました。
