個人的には冒頭を飾る[1]と80's辺りのP.サンダースが脳裏で直結しました。後はもうその音に身を委ねるだけでして、、、。
あまりストレートアヘッドなジャズについては国内外を問わず明るくはありませんが、邦人アーティストとしてこういう音を追求している存在を知っただけでも儲けモノと考えています(^^;
無論、この人達には技術が伴っている事を踏まえた上での発言になりますが、時に技術よりも訴求力が必要となる場合が（音楽の世界にも）あると思います。訴求力の一要素として技術力が必要なのは判りますが、純粋に自分たちの憧れや理想（その対象の１つがP.サンダースの影なのかも知れませんが）を音に託して伝えたい、そんな一途な想いと音が見事にマッチした稀有な作品だと思います。
（一応？）クラブ・ジャズとカテゴライズされていますが、決してその枠内でしか通用しないという類の作品ではないことを申し添えておきます。ブラボー！！

洗練されていくと次第に淡白に感じられてくるものが多い中で、この作品は極めて洗練されていながらも情感に満ち溢れている。JAZZの根源的なもの、その時代のほとばしる自由というものを感じさせる。この時代でなければ生まれなかったJAZZであり、将来的にクラシックになり得る秀作である。

海外クラブシーンでは早くから話題となり、ロンドン’JAZZ CAFE’では、マッコイ・タイナ-・トリオとの一週間公演を行う。
世界のDJが毎回チャートインさせる名盤をドロップし続ける沖野好洋氏(KYOTO JAZZ MASSIVE)のレーベル、 エスペシャル・レコードの第一弾アーティストでもあり、ジャイルス・ピーターソン、
パトリック・フォージ、BASSMENT JAXX等の ラジオ・プレイにも、クラブ・カテゴリーにありながら
生JAZZをオンエアー。
国内の主要クラブで、クラウドをJAZZの生演奏で魅了させる事のできる唯一のグループ、
それがSLEEP WALKERである。
