~The 49 Americansを聴くなら、まずは"We Know Nonsense"から。この1stアルバムは音質的にも内容的にもアマチュアリズムが徹底しているので覚悟して聴く必要がある。
しかし...
ここに収録されている"Song of the Peasant"という曲はThe Melody Four (Steve Beresford, Tony Coe & Lol Coxhill)が"Working is a job"（Nato/Chababaレーベルの"Shopping for~~ Melodies"に収録）というタイトルでカバーしていることをお知らせしておく。
Steve Beresfordの歌ものでとぼけた詩を提供しているAndrew BrennerこそがThe 49 Americansの正体である。~
