文句無しの名盤に、ボーナス・トラック3曲が追加収録されています！特に6錯乱の扉（スタジオ・ラン・スルー）はオリジナルより音が生々しく最高です！！そして、購入を考えられている方は高価な日本盤よりこの輸入盤を購入した方が良いでしょう。日本盤は輸入盤を紙ケースで包み、帯と5Pの日本語ライナーを付けただけの輸入盤国内仕様です。英文解説翻訳がどうしても欲しい方以外は500円安いこの輸入盤の方がお薦め！？

演奏面、コンセプト面と非の打ち所がないイエスの最高傑作だと思いますね。
リック・ウェイクマンが抜け、パトリック・モラーツが加入した事でモロに即興演奏の要素が
でかくなりましたが、考えてみればイエスという存在は最初からそうゆう部分が特色だった
訳で、初期二枚を抜かせばジョン・アンダーソンとクリス・スクワイアが本当にやりたかった
音楽ってのはまさにこれじゃないかなと思う。詩の世界観にしても幻想的で抽象的なものより
よっぽど優れてますね。

「錯乱の扉」、「サウンド・チェイサー」、「トゥ・ビー・オーヴァー」とまったく隙のない
名曲ばかりです。パトリック・モラーツの影響が色濃く出てる錯乱の扉中盤のインスト部分は
すさまじい。。リック・ウェイクマンは確かに超絶技巧だがプログレのプログレたる所以、
プログレの概念を感じたいならモラーツの方が数倍上ですね。まさにTHE プログレ。ハッキリ
言って彼がプログレ界最強のキーボーディストといっても過言じゃないね。
そしてこの曲、アンダーソンの個性もしっかり反映されていて、前半の荒々しく野性的なエネ
ルギーに満ちてるヴォーカルと後半のSoonのパートで魅せる芯の通った澄み渡る美声という
絶妙のコントラストがあってこそのアンダーソンだ。

スリリングなんて言葉じゃ足りず、音の壁が迫りたててくるようなサウンド・チェイサーに、
もうね、、儚いメロディーは涙なしには聴けないトゥ・ビー・オーヴァーと最高の一枚だね。

一生手放せない一枚だろう。

私は多分熱心なYesファンではないのでしょう。Yesは25年前から聴き始め、こわれものから始まり危機、究極、サードアルバム、果ては当時の新譜であるビッグ・ジェネレイターまでそれはそれは聞き込んで、今でも一通りCDで購入しましたが、自分ではまずターン・テーブルに載せることはありません。近所のロックバーあたりで流れれば勿論楽しく聞けますが、それらのいわゆるYesの名盤を自発的に聴くことは無くなってしまいました。が、本作だけは別。Yesを聴きたくなったら本作を聴きます。

本作の一曲目は名曲「錯乱の扉」。パトリックのシンセに導かれて幕が開くと、アランの安定したビートの上を各メンバーが楽器をぶつけあう、ストラヴィンスキーあたりの影響も感じさせる、緊張感に満ちた楽曲になっています。派手な前任者のビル・ブラフォードに比べると評価が落ちるアランですが、本作を通して安定したビートで派手なドラミングを披露していて、決して実力的には劣らない、テクニシャンぶりを楽しめると思います。そのアランのドラミングの上でぶつかり合う音の壮観な様は見事の一言だと思います。後半、いわゆる"スーン"の部分は音が飽和した後の緊張の解けた、安らぎに満ちた世界が展開されます。
一転して二曲目は各楽器のソロをフィーチャーした、すごいスピードで展開されるジャズロック。スティーヴのギターソロもパトリックのシンセソロも、ブリブリなクリスのベースも格好良い、音が凝縮されたような密度の濃い曲です。
三曲目はスローなテンポの佳曲で、ちょっと凡長で構成をもう少し練れば良かったとも思いますが、メロディ自体はきれいでジョンの歌声を堪能することができます。

確かに初めて「Roundabout」を聴いたときにはその格好良さにびっくりしたし、一般的に評価が高い「危機」も聴くべきだとだと思いますが、飽きずに長く聴ける本作がYesでは一押しです。
