   FANTASTIC PLASTIC MACHINE＝田中知之は、ストリングスや女性コーラスを巧みに使った、ファンタジックでドリーミーなエレクトロニック・ミュージックが身上といえる。この4枚目のアルバムも「Reaching for the Stars」「Never Ever」などでそうした“田中印”の音が炸裂するのだが、全体としては前作までのラウンジ色やエンターテインメント色がやや後退し、シンプルな音作りになった印象だ。特に目立つのがギターの多用。シングル・ヒットの「Why Not?」はアコースティック・ギターをフィーチャーしたエレクトロニカ的アプローチだし、「Philosophy」などはアヴァンギャルドなノイズ・ギターとラップとがからみ合うエクスペリメンタルな曲だ。それらは、今の田中のパーソナルな音楽的興味がストレートに表れたものなのだろう。彼のポップ・センスと実験精神が、絶妙のバランス感覚で示された作品である。（小山 守）

曲のセンスには脱帽です。
しっとりと聴ける曲から最高に盛り上がる曲まで、まさに音楽の
幕の内弁当みたいな感がありますが、どれを聴いても非常に
クオリティが高く、聴けば聴くほど好きになる楽曲揃いです。
私は、ミニマル・ダンスチューンであるKing of Pleasureが一番好きですが
聴く人によって、一番のお気には分かれるようですね。
でも、この銀円盤に収録されている曲が嫌いって人は
見つからないと思います。
趣味欄に「音楽鑑賞」と書いている人は、機会があれば聴いてみてください。
あと、音楽制作をしている方々にとっても、非常にいい「教材」となるでしょう。

ただ一つだけ、致命的な欠点が。
この銀円盤がCCCDという点です。つまり一般に言うCDとは全く別物なのです。

音質が若干悪い上、お持ちのCDプレイヤーまたはPCをぶっ壊す可能性が
ありますので、手放しでお勧めできないのが非常に残念です。
それを覚悟で至高の快楽を味わいたいのなら、是非どうぞ。

田中さん曰くこのアルバムのテーマはずばり「エロ」なのだとか。とはいえ前作『beautiful.』と比べるとやや健康的な印象。エロ→肉体を感じさせる音作り→ヘルシーな仕上がり！？（勝手に想像）

とにかく、しょっぱなからOverture of "too"~Reaching for the Starsで私はヤラれました。これでもかというくらい美しい音と過剰にロマンティックな歌詞、最高です。

最近のFPMはコンシェルジュなお仕事（？）が多いようですが、これだけ素晴らしい曲を聴いてしまうと、どうしてもオリジナルの新作を待ち望んでしまいます。

毎回すこしずつ違うサウンドを提供してくれるFPMだけど、今回の振り幅はいつもに増して大きい。
ファンタスティック！パーティー！ロマンティック！ダンサブル！なサウンドだった前回よりも、しっとりと聴かせる曲や実験的なものが多くて、少し「大人になった」感じがする。更に時代の先端を行く、FPMワールドを見せられてしまった。

しかし、オシャレ度は変わらず。田中さんがその時々に傾倒している音楽がそのまま出てしまうのもそのまま。
このアルバムは踊りにいったクラブで聴くよりも、お茶を入れて部屋でのんびりと聴くのが似合う。
