日本のポップスにとってルーツともいえる作曲家・服部良一の戦後ビクター時代初のベスト・アルバム。これまで、戦後の歌謡ベスト選集が数々発表されてきたが、唯一欠けていた、服部良一のビクター時代の作品集が、没後10周年を記念してようやくリリースされた。48年から54年にかけて、世に出た灰田勝彦の「東京の屋根の下」、高峰秀子の「銀座のカンカン娘」など、CD2枚に計46曲を収録。それにしても、当時から半世紀を過ぎようとしているが、メロディに古さが微塵もないことにあらためて感服。時代と国を超えて残る歌がある。 (小林泰介) --- 2003年02月号
