   映画に使われたスタンダード・ソングを集めた17曲入りのコンピレーション盤。選曲はジャズ歌手の大橋美加。レトロな感覚のスタンダードが多いのは、ひとえに彼女の好みを反映したもの。ダイアナ・クラールの<4>、ルイ・アームストロングの<8>、マイルス・デイヴィスの<10>などオリジナル・サウンドトラックからの収録も5曲含まれているが、それ以外はジャズ・ミュージシャン／歌手によるカヴァー・ヴァージョン。そのため、たとえば映画『ウエスト・サイド物語』でトニーとマリアが歌った<6>は映画のロマンティックなムードとは違って、オスカー・ピーターソン・トリオによるスウィンギーな演奏。またバーブラ・ストランザンドが『追憶』で歌った<7>はシンガーズ・アンリミテッドによるジャジーなコーラス。という具合に、映画のヴァージョンとはまた違った雰囲気の歌と演奏を楽しめる点が一番の魅力だ。したがって、これはたとえ映画を観てなくても、ジャズが好きな人なら文句なしに楽しめるアルバム。（市川正二）

オリジナル曲じゃなく、ジャズにアレンジした曲が多いが、オリジナルとは違った良さがあり、とてもゆったりとした気分になれる。5のサラと9のエラできがすばらしい。サラとエラの歌唱力を改めて感じた。また9はウィリーネルソンも歌ったポピュラーな曲だ。15はチェット・アトキンスの「夢で会いましょう」という曲でジョー・ブラウンが「コンサートフォジョージ」のフィナーレを飾った曲でもある。

古くはフレッド・アステアの「チーク・トゥ・チーク」（グリーン・マイルから）、最近のものではウイリアム・ギャリソンの「コーリング・ユー」（バクダッド・カフェから）まで、幅広い映画音楽からの選択。ジャズ中心の選び方でオスカー・ピーターソンの名曲まで。さすが音源を豊富にもつユニバーサルならではのコンピレ盤。いい選択なので映画ファンでなくても楽しめるのがいいですね。（松本敏之）
