私のお気に入りはライブ収録された歌です。
『雨やどり』『関白失脚』『親父の一番長い日』
どれもお客さんの笑い声がそのまま収録されています。
何度聴いてもお客さんに引っ張られて笑ってしまうんですよね。
温かいんです。会場を包みこむあの笑い声が。

「親父の一番長い日」は笑い転げるような歌ではないのですが、
12分間の演奏が終わると会場割れんばかりの拍手が起こります。
ああ、こんなに大勢の人が自分と同じようにさださんの歌を
じっと聞いていたんだと気づかされる瞬間です。
何だかとても嬉しくて、心の中で一緒になって拍手しています。

「雨やどり」や「関白宣言」が流行っていた頃、私は中高生ぐらいでした。当時は単に、落語を歌にしたみたいで面白い、としか思っていなかったのですが、今、改めて聞いてみると、面白さより感動の方が上回ってしまい、こんな深い作品だったのかと驚きました。ありふれた日常をおもしろおかしく歌にしていても、そこにこそ輝きが見出されていて、しっかりと人生のツボを押さえています。

各曲に、その曲に所縁のある人から短いエッセイが寄せられていて（それ自体は何度も読み返すほどのものではないでしょうが）、曲の雰囲気をうまく盛り上げることに成功しています。そのため、単に有名どころを集めただけのベスト盤というのではなく（そういう聞き方もできますが）、全曲を通して聴いた後、滋味溢れる日本映画の佳作に出会ったかのような感動を憶えました。

　ベストだけあって全てにおいて名曲ばかりです。
　特にお気に入りは「関白失脚」です。というか、
最近通勤中に聴いてあらためて、名曲だとおもっ
たのです。

　前振りとして「関白宣言」という曲があるから
こそ、活きてくる部分もあるのですが、創り手の
日本人のサラリーマン社会の描写の的確さとおか
し味のバランスと、それでも家族へのあふれんば
かりの愛情を併せ持つ曲の完成度は高く、始めは
笑いながら、その滑稽な歌詞を聴いているのだが、
最終的には、涙すら誘う展開に感動します。

ほんとうに素晴らしい歌ですね。
