今聞いても新鮮なラヴィンスプーンフルのファーストアルバム。瑞々しいジョン・セバスチャンのヴォーカル、フォークロックのやさしいサウンドは今では希少になった音楽としてのきらめきを湛えている。８０年代にデヴィッド・リー・ロスがカバーした「ココナッツ・グローブ」で彼らを知ったが、本作では映画「いちご白書」で流れていた「フィッシン・ブルース」が入っているのを発見！個人的に嬉しい発見でした。テクノロジーやアレンジは進化し、きらびやかなサウンドはあたりまえのように造られるようになったが、音楽の本質は曲の良さにあることを改めて感じさせてくれる作品。

夏に聴くことをおすすめします。もしくは、夏を感じたいとき。
海へ行く車の中でのドライヴィングミュージックにでもしようもの
なら！！

ブルース、ロック、ポップスなどが絶妙にシェイクされて出てくる
のは｢ハッピー！ハッピー！｣

音楽が好きで好きでたまらない人たちが作った音楽、演奏、そして
ボーカル。グッドでハッピーな楽曲が並びます。

イントロ部のメロディーは、サンプリングされて使われたりしている
ので、馴染んだフレーズが飛び込んできます。最後に、ボーカルなし
のインストがとってもいいので、必聴ですよ。

フォークロックのムーブメント一角を成すバンド。フォークとブルースなどの融合はカッコイイ。「魔法を信じるかい？」はデヴュー曲で大ヒットした。
