「ディランにて」と並んで、すばらしいソロアルバム。細野晴臣とのコラボレイト。実際にタイトルナンバーほか、細野さんの曲をぞうさん（恭蔵さん）がカバーしています。また、鈴木茂のハックルバックと共にやっている曲も大変よいです。鈴木さんのリトル・フィート志向も伝わるし（勿論それの最高潮は鈴木さんの「バンドワゴン」ですが）、細野さんの名曲も再認識できるし、そしてなんといっても、ぞうさんの味わいある声ですね。すばらしいの一言です。しばらく前のことですが、ＮＨＫアーカイブスで、ボブ・ディランの来日特集番組をやっており、当時２０代の村上龍が作家やミュージシャンにインタヴュー行脚していました。そこに「若き西岡恭蔵」も映って、感無量でした。人柄の伝わる答えかたでしたねえ・・・。ぞうさんの御冥福をお祈りします。

シングルカットされて、それなりに知られた歌といえば、金子マリとのデュエットで吹き込まれた「踊り子ルイーズ」。「プカプカ」という名曲を作った才能は、ここでも姿を現している。

ディランIIの世界を作っていたのはこの人の楽曲だが、このソロアルバムも奥深い。ボブ・ディランへの憧憬からルーツミュージックに向い、一回りしてできたポップなアルバムという風情だ。
なによりも言葉を紡ぎ出す能力が素晴らしいのだが、亡くなってもう４年以上の月日が経っている。
