裕福な中産階級の家庭に、ある日父親がネズミを持ち帰る。
そのネズミに触れた家族は、次々とおかしな行動を取り始め、完璧なはずだった家庭がグロテスクに崩壊してゆく・・・。

一見何の問題も無いように見える家庭が、実は（当然、と言うべきか）歪みをかかえている。
最後まで正体不明の「ネズミ」は、それらを暴く引き金。

この「ネズミ」の存在にしても、家族の奇妙な行動にしても、普通のドラマとしてはかなり現実味にかけている。
なのに、このリアリティ！
この映画は本当に本当にグロテスクに、人間の心にある暗闇の部分を引っ張り出して観客の目の前に差し出してみせるのだ。

フランス映画のお洒落な皮肉っぽさを期待して観たら、この強烈な毒気に当てられてしまうだろう。
原題は「シットコム」誰かがジョークを言うたびにサクラの脳天気な笑い声が入る、アメリカの伝統的なホームコメディだ。
ただし、オゾンの「シットコム」は笑いが引きつるが・・・。

おそらく、好き嫌いがきっぱり分かれる作品だろうと思う。

しかし私は、この作品一つで思いっきりオゾンの毒に染まってしまった。

もしかして気づかぬうちにネズミに触れてしまったのか・・・？

ルイス・ブニュエルの雰囲気を醸し出す作品は他には無い。スパニッシュ作品、いや、イタリー作品にありそうな家族愛を痛烈な、美しい描写で細かく語られている。母親とセラピストの会話、保養所内の温泉プールとラスト・シーンの墓地以外は、全て家の中が舞台となり、興味深い物語が展開されて行く。ホモへの階段をリアルに表現！母子相姦というタブーを明るく表現！ネズミを電子レンジで調理する時の叫び声＆弾けるノイズ！アブドゥの存在がとにかく笑う。典型的ヨーロッパの美しいインテリアなど、参考になるアイテムが観賞できる。フランソワ・オゾンという個性的な名の監督。生年月日が１９６０年代後半と知り、驚いた。付属の２０分弱の短編も惹きつけられた。”短編王”の名は半端じゃない。これからの活躍を、多いに期待したい。これはストレス解消になる、間違いない！
