この作品はスタジオを借りずに青森のつぶれた映画館で、ほとんどメンバー三人だけで機材と格闘しながらレコーディングしたものらしいので、音が他の作品と違う。音のうえでは異色作として扱うべきアルバムだが、内容的にはいかにも人間椅子、ひねくれた曲構成、日本的でおどろおどろしい雰囲気満載でありつつ、パチンコ・ギャンブルなどを題材としたギャグっぽい曲もある。
「胎内巡り」はいかにも人間椅子らしい、因習的、仏教的、わびさびのある詩世界。最後の、お経が入ってくる部分がカッコイイ。
「九相図のスキャット」は非常に猟奇的。腐敗していく女の死体を愛し続ける男。髪をとかしたり、話しかけたり、歌を歌ってあげたり。
「ダンウィッチの怪」は人間椅子の中でもかなりの名曲だと思う。怪しげで演劇的で壮大。1曲の中に世界が完成され尽くしている。途中から演奏は引きぎみになって、静寂・空間の広がりを表現していくが、かえってその部分が盛り上がって聞こえる。呪詛的なボーカルとコーラスも非常に雰囲気があって味わい深い。ゆっくりと不気味なものが近付いてきて笑い声とともに爆発する展開はあまりにドラマチック。

隠れた名曲とでも言おうか、「ED75」は、心をギューっとされたみたいにしみ込んでくる、まさに名曲。
「エキサイト」はギャンブルを題材にした歌詞がファンにはウケが悪いみたいだけど、曲調は悪くないと思う。
余談だけども、歌詞カードの裏表紙のメンバー写真が、幻覚剤ヤッちゃったヒトの頭ん中みたいで素敵だ。

ライナーノーツによると、Ｇ和嶋慎治氏とＢ鈴木研一氏の地元・青森県弘前市にあったつぶれた映画館で録音したとのこと。
それはさておき、人間椅子のアルバムにしては重低音が強調されていない思われます。無論、そのように録音したのでしょうが、やや物足りなさも感じます。しかし、相変わらず演奏力は抜群ですね。
