   「松居慶子2枚目のベスト・アルバム」と紹介すべきか、それとも「新種の新作」と呼ぶべきか一瞬迷ってしまう。というのも、たしかにここに収録されている曲は過去のアルバムに入っていたナンバーばかりだけど、といっても本作はそうした過去の録音を寄せ集めたベスト盤ではないからだ。オリジナルとは違った形で新たにアレンジをほどこし、レコーディングしなおしたニュー・ヴァージョン集なのである。だからやっぱりこれは新作と呼んだほうがいいだろう。全体のアレンジを担当したのは横内丙午で、杉本洋祐も一部リズム・プログラミングを行なっている。さらに元カシオペアのベーシスト、桜井哲夫も演奏に参加している。というわけで、懐かしい初期の代表曲が新しいアレンジでどのように響くかが一番の楽しみ。初期の演奏はサックスなども加えたバンド・サウンドだったが、今回は打ち込みを駆使した癒しサウンド。なおこれを第1弾に、このあと『夏』『秋』『冬』セレクションと、シリーズでこの企画を進行するということなので今後が楽しみだ。（市川正二）

86年に発表した1作目『水滴』から97年の『ドリーム・ウォーク』まで初期のアルバムのなかから、春にふさわしい曲をセレクトしたベスト盤。アレンジを変え、ピアノを録音し直したため、新鮮でさわやかな印象を受ける。今後、季節の変わり目に同シリーズを随時発表していく。

彼女の２枚目のＢＥＳＴアルバムです。彼女は坂本九さんに続き､日本人として２人目のビルボード１位を獲得したジャズピアニストです。彼女の音楽はスムースジャズに分類されますが、ジャズというよりは、フュージョン、あるいはヒーリングミュージックといった方が音のイメージに合うと思います。実際、米国では心を癒してくれるピアニストとして有名です。

このＢＥＳＴアルバムでは、これまでの名曲の中からリアレンジあるいはリテイクして収録してありますので、既に彼女のアルバムを持っている人はもちろん、初めて聞くという方の入門にも最適だと思います。そして彼女の音楽を気に入ったら、是非コンサート会場に足を運んでください。アルバムの数倍の感動が味わえます。

スムースジャズの名手として、アメリカを中心に世界的に名を知られる松井慶子（全米スムースジャズ・アワードで最優秀賞を2年連続で受賞）。このCDは彼女のベストアルバムです。体を曲の流れにまかせたくなるようにスムースでメロウなピアノパフォーマンス満載。もしスムースジャズを聴いたことがなければ、まずこのCDからはじめるとムースジャズの醍醐味がよく分かります。松井慶子入門としても最高。

松居慶子さんの楽曲は、初期の作品を除き、最近は打ち込みシーケンスものが多く、ある程度耳の肥えたリスナーであれば、ストリングセクションのシンセっぽさが興ざめしてしまうところもあります。
しかし、この作品では櫻井哲夫さんの艶っぽいベースの音が、今までのケイコ＝マツイとは違う香りをたててくれています。

もともとその楽曲のよさは折り紙つきであり、その楽曲が最近の彼女の「音」で聴けることは大変喜ばしく幸せなことです。新旧の聴き較べもまた愉し。
初心者にも入門編としてお勧めできます。
