今じゃ、サバイバーって言ったら、「デスティニー・チャイルドの曲でしょ」って言われる始末だが、こんな素晴らしいバンドが忘れ去られてしまうなんて悲しい時代になりました。「The Search Is Over」みたいな素晴らしいバラードあり、ロッキー３、４の主題歌で有名な「Eye Of The Tiger」、「Burning Heart」あり、キャッチーなメロディーの「Is This Love」あり、そしてハードポップの名曲（といえば言いのだろうか）「I Can't Hold Back」あり…と、名曲ばかり１３曲収録。このアルバムを聴いてサバイバーに興味を持ったら、是非とも『Vital Signs』も聴いて欲しい。絶対に損はしないから。

それにしても、このベスト盤を除くと、日本盤は全部廃盤になっているって言う状況が信じられない。去年、このベストやライブ盤を含む全タイトルの再発予定だったのに延期されて、やっと発売されたかと思えば、このベスト盤だけ。レコード会社がゾンバになったりして、混乱したんだとは思うけど、BSBなどに告ぎ込む力の１００分の１でもいいから、サバイバーの再発の方にも力を入れて欲しい。

最近、仕事が非常にきついんで、元気がでる曲を探したところ、ありましたねぇ、High on Youが流れてきたら、思わず、"どうしたらいいの”と
立ち上がってしまいました。(もちろん興奮してです）
産業ロックだろうがジャーニーの亜流だろうが、そんなん関係ありまへん。キャッチーでポップで何が悪い！疲れているあなたにお勧めです。

サバイバーはロッキー３、４のテーマ他、多くのヒット曲を80年代に放ったアメリカン・ロック・バンド。最近ではジミー・ジェームソンが99年に発表したEmpiresをきっかけにメロディック・ロックファンのあいだでも再評価されてきている。このベスト盤はサバイバーの代表曲をヒットの最高位順に並べたもので非常にわかりやすくサバイバーのヒット曲を追うことができる。また93年に発表された曲2曲も含まれている。そしてファンにとってうれしいのはCaught In The Gameが加えられたこと。実はいろいろ出回っているベストでは残念ながらもれてしまっているのがファンより惜しまれていた曲なのである。99年に発表されていたFinest Selectionはどちらかというとサバイバーのベストはすでに持っている人が対象だったから、Finest Selectionで初めてサバイバーに触れた人には是非、このベストも手にして欲しい。特にFinest Selectionに入っていなかったHigh On YouやIs this Loveはすばらしい曲でサバイバーの魅力に新たにはまるはずである。
