スカパラと沖祐市の参加するトリオ、sembelloとのジョイント・アルバムとしても楽しめる同名映画サントラ盤。最近はポップな歌もののイメージが強いスカパラの音楽職人気質全開のインスト曲がたっぷり。大野克夫的ジャズ調劇伴のにおいもほのかに漂う。★


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

20数年の時をへだてた復活第二作として、2月から全国公開される不滅のヤクザ映画『仁義なき戦い』の新作。復活以降は毎回監督と役者を変えてゆく趣向のようで、高橋克典と渡辺謙が主役を張っているが、音楽も毎回変わるようだ。前作では、主役も兼ねた布袋寅泰が印象的なテーマ曲をバリバリ弾きまくっていたが、今回の音楽担当は、かつてオリジナル『仁義~』のテーマをカヴァーしたことのあるスカパラと、そのキーボーディストである沖祐市のユニット、sembelloである。結論から言うと、両者ともこれまでの音楽性をとくに変えることなく、サントラという条件を楽しみながら作ったように聴こえる快作だ。スカパラはメロディ重視、哀愁と緊張感あふれるテーマ曲をさまざまなリズムで変奏し、沖とサキソフォンの田中邦和によるsembelloは、タンゴからフリー・ジャズまで、シネマティックな効果音を妖しく奔放に奏でる。それにしても、「仁義なき戦いのテーマ」の血湧き肉踊る高揚感は時代を超えた名曲だとあらためて実感した。 (宮本英夫) --- 2003年02月号

3.0 out of 5 stars オリジナルが八九三ならこの仁義なき戦いはマフィアな感じ, 2003/2/27
結構期待してた割にはいまいち。
sembello名義の曲（田中邦和作曲も含む）が半分近くあることもあって、全体的にかなりジャジーな雰囲気です。
したがって、スカパラのスカスカパラパラした音楽が好きな人にはいまいちかも。スカパラのＣＤというより、あくまで新・仁義なき戦いのサントラ音楽として聞くといいかな。

あまり「血のにおい」がしないサントラだが、映画自体があまりよくなかったのでしょうがないか・・・
