   眉村卓の原作をもとに、3人の監督がそれぞれ独自の作風で作り上げたSFオムニバスアニメーションの傑作。
   猫とともに大正~昭和初期モダニズム風な世界へと入り込む少女を描いたりんたろう監督の「ラビリンス・ラビリントス」、あまりにも過酷なレースに臨み続けていたために身体だけでなく精神までも破壊されていくレーサーを描く川尻善昭監督の「走る男」、ジャングルの奥地でロボットたちにより延々続けられている工事を中止させるために赴いた男の苦悩を描く大友克洋監督の「工事中止命令」。各作品ともに度合いの差はありながらも「物語」を持ちつつ、しかしそんなことはどうでもよくなるほどに圧倒的なビジュアルイメージが炸裂する、まさしくアニメーションでしか表現することの不可能な作品である。（田中　元）

こういうのを創ってしまうのがアニメーターの真の怖さである。
恐らく興行収益がどうのという意識はなかっただろう。
「アキラ」を十数年前初めて観た時、当時のアニメーターたちがやりたい放題やってみせた映画という
印象だったが、それが各国のアニメーターたちに衝撃を与え、自分達はこれをやりたかったんだと
言わしめたのだから、本来はこうでなければならないのだ。
「ラビリンスラビリンス」絵は可愛いのに怖い。お母さんとの何気ない会話が怖い。時計の振り子が怖い。
なんだかわからないこの怖さ。
「走る男」これは怖さは予想がつく。絵がもともと怖いから。その火が舐めるように走るのが綺麗。
綺麗と感じるのが怖い。
「工事中止命令」大友監督の得意とする怖さ。
アート系アニメです。この効果を使うと、映像ではどうなるかといったサンプルのような作品。
こういう映像が作られないと、アニメーションの進化はない。マニア向けです。

高校時代にレンタルビデオで見てかなりの衝撃を受けた作品です。そして、僕はこの作品の中の｢走る男｣に出会って以来、川尻監督の次回作に期待する一人となりました。それは、今も変わりません。大友監督の作品も非常に丁寧な作画ですばらしいですよね。りんたろう監督の作品もイメージの洪水で見る側をそっちのけなのがいいです。

アニメの中にＣＧがあるのが当たり前の現在ですが、この作品の頃に感じた衝撃は正直受けません。このような作品を作り出した監督、スタッフの皆さんに拍手です。
