制作されたのが１９４７年ということが信じられないほど美しい映像である。
ヒマラヤの奥地が舞台となる修道女の物語であるが，一切現地ロケを行っていないそうである。
ほとんどがスタジオで撮影され，ロケも英国内のみであるというのがまるで嘘のようだ。
まずは映像を見て欲しい。

デボラ・カーの美しさもさることながら，キャスリーン・バイロンの演技も素晴らしい。
このバイロンは「プライベート・ライアン」で，ライアン二等兵の母親も演じている。
今も現役の女優さんである。脱帽。

修道女たちも人間です。
強い信仰があっても迷うことばかり。
異郷の地で、少しずつ歪んでいく人間関係。
人間って弱いですね。
そして、また人間というのは恐ろしい。
ヒマラヤの強い風にあおられ、信仰も揺らいでしまったのかも…。
ヒマラヤの光景や修道女たちは美しいけれど、
これはとても怖い映画だと思いました。
