78年発表の4枚目のアルバム。プログレのイメージで捉えられがちだし、そういう曲もあるが、少なくてもこの作品はけっこうポップで歌がメインに置かれた。メイン・ソングライターの一人の佐久間正英が、四人囃子の後にプラスチックスで活動したのも納得。


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

この年末に四人囃子の旧譜が各社合わせて一挙に10タイトルも紙ジャケで再発される。2001年の5枚組ボックス、頭脳警察との再結成コンサートと、これはもう“四人囃子現象”。常に本当の意味での“プログレッシヴ・ロック”を追求していた彼らだが、看板ギタリスト、森園勝敏の脱退にもめげず、後任に佐藤ミツルを迎えて制作したSEA-SAWレーベルからの3作は見逃せない。個人的には素直なポップ・ロックを展開する4作目の『包』を推薦。彼ら独自の日本語のロックは今こそ評価されるべきでしょう。 (杉山達) --- 2003年01月号

絶対的柱だった森園勝敏が脱退してG&Voが佐藤ミツルに代ってからの2枚目となった作品。前作『プリンテッド・ゼリー』で迷う事無くストレートでポップな路線に大変身した四人囃子が、それをさらに進化させたアルバムである。各メンバーが曲を持ち寄り提供するなど、ここではポップの域をさらに幅広く拡大させた。かつての大作主義は完全に影を潜め、ライトでクリアーな仕上りとなっている。しかしバランスを意識しすぎるあまり、バンドのカラーが出し切れていないように感じる。もし佐藤ミツルのギターがもっと前に出て各楽曲を引っ張る形になっていたら、このメンバーでの展開は絶対違って行ったはずで、また佐藤個人もギタリストとしてもっと評価され、後の活動はもっと広がっていたはずである。佐藤ミツルを北海道からメジャーデビューさせたのは四人囃子であるが、同時に彼のプロでの活躍の場を限定させてしまったのも四人囃子であったとは、何とも皮肉な結果であった。
