四人囃子というバンドを語る場合、ほとんどの人が森園勝敏を中心に語ってしまうのはやむを得ない。昔の天才ギタリスト、今でもギター界の大御所的な存在なのだから。しかしその森園が四人囃子を脱退した後に新たなギタリストとして招かれた佐藤ミツルは、森園の亡霊と闘い続けながらも立派に役目を果たした偉大なミュージシャンであった。その新メンバー、佐藤ミツルをフィーチャーした新生・四人囃子の第一弾がこの『PRINTED JELLY』だ。「一触即発」や「泳ぐなネッシー」のような大作に決別し、トリッキーなアレンジも排除し、もっとストレートなポップ・ロックバンドに大変身を遂げた四人囃子の登場だった。まずは佐藤ミツルの甘いボーカルと見事でダイナミックなギターテクニックに驚かされる。それまでの四人囃子をベースに期待した人は若干物足りなさを感じたかも知れないが、余計な音数を減らして直線的なアレンジを多用した分だけ森園時代よりも人間的な血の滾りは増している。またあまり語られる事は少ないが、このアルバムでは岡井大二のドラムが以前よりも前に出てきており“森園とバックの演奏”という風合いだったかつての四人囃子は“一体化したバンド・アンサンブル”を披露するバンドに見事に変身を遂げている。この狙いは決して間違ってはいなかったはずだ。1枚のアルバムとして見た場合、中心となる楽曲「ハレソラ」「Violet Storm」と他の楽曲との間にもう少しメリハリが欲しかった気がしないでもないが、迷いなく変身を遂げたバンドの再出発としては上出来の仕上がりだ。「ガッツ溢れる好アルバム」と紹介したい。

リアルタイムを知らない世代なのですがあまり古さを感じず聞きやすいロックだと思いました。ギターが個性的で◎です。ボーカルの佐藤ミツル氏の歌声はミスチルの櫻井さんとソックリ。

１９７７年　日本のロック、フォークをほんとんど聴いいた事が無かった僕に衝撃が走った。
当時「ビート　オン　プラザ」（ＦＭ大阪　キー局「ＦＭ東京」）という番組があり、レコード会社の圧力を押しのけアルバムを全部オンエアするという　しかも新譜！！
ほとんどが　海外アーチストの紹介。
その中で　「四人囃子」が「プリンテッドジェリー」を発売します、今回はそれを紹介と、珍しく日本のバンドのオンエアーだった。
びっくりするほどの構成と安定感　しかもポップだが　どことなくプログレの匂いもする。
Ｊポップの原点　お手本としても　必聴の１枚！
天才「佐久間」の片鱗が垣間見れる１枚かと思います。
