本ＣＤ、１９３８年１０月２２日の演奏会の放送録音。目玉は伝説のチェリスト、エマニュエル・フォイァマンをソリストにしたリヒャルト・シュトラウスの『ドン・キホーテ』。後年（１９５３年）の録音と、ヴィオラだけは同じカールトン・クーレィ。ヴァイオリンは、コンサート・マスターだったミッシャ・ミシャコフ（１９５３年盤は、ダニエル・ギレー）。フォイァマンのソロは、後年の録音のソリスト（フランク・ミラー）よりも軽やかで気品溢れるもの。演奏そのものには好みが分かれるであろうが、チェロに関してはやはりフォイァマンの方がかなり格上という感じである。ともかく自由自在な飛翔感が何とも印象的である。また、ヴァイオリンも、こちらの方が濃厚でロマンティックな演奏で、個人的にはこちらの演奏の方が好きである。因みに音質は、このシリーズのいつもの通り、良質なソースによるもので、十分楽しめるものである。もう一曲は同じ日の演奏、ベートーヴェンの交響曲第５番『運命』。こちらもかなり素晴らしい名演。有名な３９年のベートーヴェンチクルスの演奏と基本的には同じ解釈であるが、小生にとってはこちらの方がドラマチックで、優れているように思われる。他にはロッシーニの『シンデレラ』序曲。こちらは、予想通り、見事な演奏。ボーナスの音源がないのは残念であるが、解説はいつもながら、洞察力に富んだ、鋭く見事なもの（英文）。録音年代からしてもコレクター向けと言わねばならないが、これだけの素晴らしい演奏、本当はもっと沢山の人に聴いて欲しいもの。
