夜中にAmazonのサイトを見ていたら、見つけてしまいました。３分後には買っちゃいましたよー。それにしても、レコード屋さん（古い？）では、隅に追いやられているユーロの神様ですもんね。Michael Fortunatiって。
Give Me UpやInto The Nightをよく聞いてたのがもう１５年くらい前ですもんね。2000年にrimix版が出ましたけど、やっぱりオリジナルは今聞いてもいいですよ。そういえば、最近、子連れOKのディスコが人気だとか。東京にしかないのでしょうけど、気がつけば30を過ぎ、子持ちになったけど、行ってみますか！

８０年代に大流行したユーロビートというジャンル。そのトップ・ポジションをキープしていたのが彼、マイケル・フォーチュナティ。デビュー曲「ギヴ・ミー・アップ」を初めて耳にした時は、そりゃもう衝撃的だった！キャッチーでノリがいい上に、楽曲のクオリティ高過ぎ。それにこの当時、巷にあふれていたダンス・ミュージックとは明らかに異なる個性も放っていた。ロック色をも感じさせる、単に「ユーロビート」というジャンルだけでは語れない音楽性。自ら曲作り、演奏をもこなすアーティストとしての才能も発揮。後、「イントゥ・ザ・ナイト」、「エナジャイズ」（多分、日本のみのシングル・カットだが）、「恋のラスト・チャンス」、「ゲーム・オブ・フォーチュン」と１stアルバムから次々とヒット曲が連発。２ndアルバムからも「ハレルヤ」、「ゲーム・オブ・フォーチュン（リミックス）」と止まることなくヒットの連続。「レット・ミー・ダウン」収録の３rdアルバムも好調だったもののその後はどんどん安っぽいユーロビートになっていったのが残念。シングルのみで発表された「ベイビー・ユー」なんて曲もあったがこの辺りからマズくなっていったような気がする。とは言え、このアルバムに収録されてるものはどれも最高！いっきに８０年代にタイム・スリップできること間違いなし！

「ギブミーアップ」が聴きたいがために買いましたが、二曲目の「イントゥーザナイト」もギブミー路線でなかなかでしたね。「ハレルヤ」もしかりです。でもやはりこの人は「ギブミーアップ」でしょう！このCDに収録されているのはオリジナルバージョンですが、１２インチバージョン？の方がイントロが長くテンポも若干速いので個人的にはこのオリジナルより好きかな。エイベックス・トラックスの十八番だった初期の８０年代哀愁スーパーユーロビートシリーズがお好きな方、この曲が元ネタといわれている、バナナラマのユーロ・ポップな名曲「アイハードアルーマー」とか好きな方は特にお勧めです。
