　この「恐怖の頭脳改革」は、ＥＬＰの中で最も評価の高い作品でしょう。なんといっても「悪の教典」が素晴らしいです。第２楽章のソロがたまらなくかっこいいです。全体を通して見ても、かなりの出来である事は誰が見ても間違いないでしょう。

　しかし私的にはそれほど好きではない作品なのです。１枚目のようにエネルギーと意欲に溢れているわけでもなく、２枚目の表題曲、「タルカス」のような、まさに機械獣が突進してくるような衝撃も、私はこの作品からは受けませんでした。
　ジャケットもこれまでの作品と比べると、かなり異色で気持ち悪いです。

　以上の点から私はあまりこの作品は好きではありません。が、最高傑作の評価にけちをつけるつもりも無いです。完成度は彼らの作品の中では確かに高いですし。でもどうしても好きになれないんですよね…。

このＣＤの聴きどころはなんといってもＥＬ＆Ｐの最高傑作といわれている大作の「悪の教典＃９」だと思います。特にエマーソンの「第１印象　パート２」でのオルガンのソロはたまりません。また、このＣＤは「悪の教典＃９」だけでなく、レイクのファンにならずにはいられない「スティル・・・ユー・ターン・ミー・オン」や「聖地エルサレム」など素晴らしい曲ばかりです。このＣＤを聴かずしてプログレは語れないと思います。

「展覧会の絵」と並ぶEL&Pの最高傑作だと思います。
ＬＰレコードのジャケットも真ん中から見開きになっていて、無茶苦茶格好良かった。（ＣＤではどうなんでしょう？）
このイラストは、確かメイヤーが書いていて、このアルバムからメイヤー自身も世界に名が知られるようになったと記憶しているのですが・・・（違ってたらごめんなさい）

プログレを語る上では絶対に外せない１枚だと思います。

観音開きの紙ジャケ。前から欲しかったけど、曲は聞いたことがあるから踏ん切りつきませんでした。でも”聖地エルサレム”の壮大さは不滅ですね。
