本格的に活動拠点をＮＹに移してからの作品集となりました。
　ＮＹで本場のブラックミュージックシーンで活動して、彼のファンクがさらにブラッシュアップされてしまったようです。
　ファルセットの使い方が繊細になった。かつてのような
アグレッシブなファンクではなく、ソフトさも表現できて
いる、完成度の高い楽曲ばかりです。

　実際、僕は初期の楽曲のほうが馴染み深いのですが、こ
のベスト盤はきいていて良いと思います。いわゆる市場を
にぎわせた楽曲はlalala love song位なんだと思いますが、
他の曲は本当におしゃれでクールですね。

　選曲はほぼバラードとミディアム・テンポの曲ですね。
だから全体としては、ファンクなんだけど、結構しっとり
とした感じになります。

　「あぁ、やっぱり久保田だぁ」というのが聴いた直後の感想ですね。
　同じBADDESTでもIとIIIでは曲のイメージが変わってしまっていますが、それでも随所に垣間見える久保田節は健在でした。

　「特にこれ」といったお薦め曲はありません。
　「無い」というのではなく、どれもが「いい」のです。

　まるで各々の曲（ピース）が集まって一つのものを構成する感じでアルバムが出来上がっているような感じですね。

前作The Baddest IIから８年振りのベスト。
今までのアルバムに収録されていた曲もありますが、
シングルのみの曲もありで凝縮された待ちに待った１枚
となるはず！！
ぜひぜひいろんな方に聴いていただきたいです。
