ザ・ビートルズ・メンバーについて1時間近くもある作品でありながら、音楽が収録されていないことに驚かされるが、それでもなお見る価値が十分にある、それが『ジョン・レノン＆オノ・ヨーコ イヤー・オブ・ピース』だ。“イヤー”というのは1969年。新婚の2人があの悪名高いイベント,“ベッド・イン”をトロントのホテルで行い、いく分愚直だが真摯な世界平和キャンペーンを始めた年だ。それから2人はモントリオールへ移動。そこのホテルの部屋で「ギブ・ピース・ア・チャンス」を録音した。トロントへ戻ったレノンは（エリック・クラプトンやほかのミュージシャンと共に）コンサートに出演、ソロで活動した最初のビートルズとなった。そのイベント自体はここに収められていないが、どこまでも正直で、気取りがなく、温和で、身近に感じられるレノンの影像が数多く収録されている。この2000年制作のドキュメンタリーのために行われたインタビューで、オノ・ヨーコや関係者が当時を振り返っているのは興味深いが、しかし、この記録を非常に貴重なものにしているのはまさに1969年の風景そのものなのである。（Sam Graham, Amazon.com）
