ドラキュラ伝説の元になったといわれる人物をドラマ化したもの
ですから、スリラーやホラーを期待していると、ちょっと的はず
れな感じになってしまうと思います。
ドラキュラ伝説の背景や人物像に重きを置いて、鑑賞して見てく
ださい。そうすれば、結構面白い映画だと思います。

このストーリーは吸血鬼ドラキュラのモデルとなった実在の人物の生い立ちを描いたものである。
モデルとなる人物がいたことは聴いて知ってはいたが、ドラキュラも中世ヨーロッパの権力構造の中で翻弄され、あがいていた人物だったのだと感じ、吸血鬼ドラキュラへの見方も変わった。敵によって弟と引き離されたり、当時は宗教の力が強く、干渉されたり、その一方で庇護を求めなくてはならなかったり、また、狡猾に生き抜こうとする信頼のおけない諸侯の存在。それらの難題を解決し、秩序と平安をもたらすためには「恐怖」こそが必要だと考え殺戮を繰り返す。
一部市民のように彼を評価するものもあれば、恐れるものもいる。彼は名君であるのか、またはただの暴君であるのか一概に割り切ることはできない。
ただいえるのは、伝説化され吸血鬼としてその名を留めるに値するだけの人生を歩んだということだ。どんな人生かは本編をぜひ見てもらいたいが、吸血鬼として世をさまよう姿は悲哀をおびていてどこかもの悲しい印象をうける。

2.0 out of 5 stars ヴラド三世の伝記作品, 2008/9/7
残虐性はそれなりに出ていましたが、英雄としての魅力や彼の悲運さはちゃんと描かれていませんでした。
ヴラド三世のことが好きな人が見たらガッカリする作品だと思います。
ドラキュラ(モンスターとして)好きでたまたま見てヴラドに興味を抱いてくれたらこれ幸いといった感じのキッカケ的作品ですね。
残虐描写も少人数の串刺しだけなのでヴラド本来の残虐さはイマイチ表現出来ておらず、結局は伝記に見せかけた血迷ったダークヒーローものといった感じの出来でしたね。
そして戦闘シーン、衣装、建築物全てが安っぽく、残念です。
お涙ちょうだいの娯楽作ではなくこういった史劇作品こそお金をかけて脚本もよく練って撮ってもらいたいものです。
