   日本出版界の事件とも称されたテリー・ケイの同名ベストセラー小説を翻案映画化。原作とは異なり、犬を妻の化身と断定せず、もしかして主人公の思い込みだけではないかとも観る者に思わせるのがいい。在日韓国人問題を忍ばせているあたりも、脚本・森崎東の個性ならではだろう。監督にはこれがデビューの月野木隆があたっているが、着実な演出ぶりに好感が持てる。名優・仲代の飄々とした演技も味わい深い。（的田也寸志）

悪い映画とは言いませんが、翻訳者はどうしてこの映画にこの日本語の題名をつけたのか疑問に思いました。
この映画を見る前は題名からどこか優しげな印象を受けましたが、
内容は少々暴力的なシーンもあり、見終わったあとも暗い気持ちが抜けませんでした。

主人公の老人の娘達が不愉快で印象に残りました。母親の死にいつまでもメソメソしているし
妻に死なれた老人は一人でしっかり生きていこうとしているのに
しゃしゃり出てきて邪魔をする。
父親の行動すべてを心配し、邪魔するのです。相手は老人だと言ってもやりすぎです。

心配＝愛情ではない。大きな心で見守り、父親のやりたいようにさせてあげるべきです。
老人と犬の関係が見所だと思いますが、仲代さんの犬への接し方（触り方、抱き方など）が
ぎこちなくて、犬に対する親しみや愛情が伝わってきませんでした。

景色がまんまうちの田舎に似てて、冒頭からかなり感情移入してしまいました。
原作見ないと和洋の違いがわからないけど、日本の田舎、山間の空気感がすごい胸にくるというか・・・。

片親亡くした成人以上の人ならやるだろう会話とか、葬式にでしゃばる知り合いとかw
遺品の片付けでの悲しいけどやることやらなきゃで微妙に立ち直りつつみたいのとか・・・。
他にも共感する場面がたくさんありました。

邦画らしいという程見識は深くないけど、洋画の大雑把な感情表現とは違うなぁ・・・
やっぱ邦画はいいなぁと思った作品でした。
初監督作品らしいけど、監督の体験からくるものもあるんじゃないかなぁ・・・?
一家族とその周辺の小さな人間関係の変化していく様子。
子の気持ち、親の気持ちが静かに描かれていました。
私は好みです。
