７０年代のアニメを語る上で絶対外せないのがこの『ど根性ガエル』です。原作は当時少年誌後発の少年ジャンプを『トイレット博士』と並んで牽引した吉沢やすみ原作の人情ギャグマンガ。都内某所の下町中学に通うひろしとピョン吉を取り巻く仲間達とのドラマは、ペーソス溢れる味わい深い作品となっています。本ＢＯＸには、平面ガエル誕生の秘密を描いた記念すべき第１話をはじめ京子ちゃん、五郎、マリア、そして梅さんといった名バイプレイヤーをそれぞれフューチャーした、まさに『ど根性ガエル名鑑』と言えるでしょう。おススメはひろしのトレードマークであるサングラスの思い出情緒たっぷりに描いた『おとこ涙のサングラスの巻』、全自動洗濯機購入を機にその対策に命がけで望むピョン吉を一大スケールで描いた『涙の大特訓の巻』、そして、年越しそばにすっかりお客を奪われた宝寿司を助けるためピョン吉が大奮闘する大晦日の１日を描いた初期の傑作『年越し寿司だよ全員集合の巻』等、見どころ満載のＢＯＸです。

この作品には、芝山努や小林修が作画監督とし
て働かれていて、やはりこの方々が作るアニメはおもしろいと
実感しました。
昔の作品なので、古臭さを感じるところもありますが、十分楽しめると
思います。

　なぜか、胃腸薬のＣＭで、成人したひろし、京子ちゃん、ゴリライモが登場し、シリーズ化しています。満を持して、『教師生活25年』（言い方は、キョーシ生活25年）の先生がなぜか馬に乗って登場しています。同窓会かに呼ばれたのでしょうか？この名文句の後に、『ひろし、おまえほどの（悪い意味での）生徒にめぐり合ったことはなかった。』と嘆くのでした。

　早くひろしの母親がＣＭに出ないかと期待しています。
