本作がダナ・グローヴァーのデビュー・アルバムであるのは確かだが、以前はモデルだった彼女は一時期ピート・セテラの5枚のアルバムでサックスをプレイしたこともあった。その後、その粗削りなコントラルトの声が、元ザ・バンドでA&Rの達人へと転進したロビー・ロバートソンの目に止まり、彼女はドリームワークスと契約した。
