EGO-WRAPPIN'というよりは、小島麻由美でしょうか、このノリは。怨念といいますか、ギューッと濃い想いには欠けるが、このライトな感じがちょうどいいという人も多いのだろう。全曲、昭和40年代のカヴァーということだが、ノスタルジックな印象は皆無。

このあいだ家で辺見マリかけてたらですね、6歳の息子が言うんです。「これってEGO-WRAPPIN'の新曲?」。つーわけで、時代はジャズ、じゃなくってズージャ風味の歌謡曲。黛ジュンが元歌の表題曲は、テナー・サックス→ヴィブラフォン→ストリングス→トランペットとシンボーたまらん紋切り型のイントロ、の後に、10人中10人のオトコが下心いだくであろう色っぽくって蓮っ葉なヴォーカルが……嗚呼。全5曲昭和40年代歌謡曲のグルーヴィなカヴァー。「涙のかわくまで」は西田佐知子版をしのぐ、ソソるため息入りでオヤジ昇天。 (大須賀猛) --- 2002年11月号
