今まで結構沢山のライブ録音を残してきているクラプトンですが、これが最高の出来だと思います。まず、ボーカルが上手くなりかつ安定してきたことですね。まさか、これほど上手くなるとは想像できなかったですね。そして、ギターのほうも気力充実という感じが溢れております。特に「レイラ」の演奏は、数々あるレイラのライブ中でもベストの出来だと思います。このＣＤに含まれている選曲もクリーム時代から最新アルバムまで、クラプトンワールドがいかんなく展開されております。つくづく思いますが彼のギターというのは、真似の出来ない「音色」なんですよねえ。そしてエンディングが「虹の彼方に」ということでいつの間にかクラプトンのエンディング曲になってしまったような感があります。このライブ盤は、枯れた味といいますか、達観したといいますか、それでいて高尚にならず、なかなかいい味です。

クラプトンはこのアルバムについて、「誰も無駄な音は一切出していない」と言っています。
そう。無駄な音が見あたらない。
８０年代のクラプトンは色々なアーティストと競演していたように思いますが（カールパーキンス、リンゴスター、Ｄｒジョン、など、、）そのプレイは共演者と比べて突出するものではありませんでした。
その理由を僕は無駄な音が多かったためだと思っています。
もう時代的にもクラプトンはインプロヴィゼーションで勝負できる人物ではなかったし、しかもフレーズ間のタメで勝負するような苦いブルースを弾く、正統継承者でもあちませんでした。
このアルバムは２０００年代のクラプトン。この大きな余裕は何なのでしょうか。一切無駄な音がない。
クラプトンの独壇場というよりは一つのブルースバンドの演奏のようです。そこにクラプトンの音が非常に気持ちよく鳴っている。
曲は往年の名曲中心です。また客の反応もよくて実にいいタイミングで湧いてくれます。
ＡＯＲ的なクラプトンはつまらないという見方もあるかと思いますが自分は今のクラプトンが一番好きです。

長いキャリアから代表曲をずらりと並べ、この当時の最新アルバムからも数曲、凄腕のミュージシャンに囲まれ、安定したプレイと歌を聞かせるクラプトン。これみよがしにテクニックを披露することは決して無いが、クラプトンを含め全員のミュージシャンが安定したまさに「プロ」という演奏をしているのが聴きどころ。よくソロになってから、特にここ１０数年間のクラプトンは軽すぎる、攻撃的じゃない、軟派だ、というような評価を聞くが、人間誰しも年をとるわけだし、変化して当然だと思う。そういう自分もクリーム大好きだし、ドミノスも大好きだ。ただ、年相応に自然体でプレイするクラプトンも捨てがたい。年寄りのクセに、昔と同じファッション、髪型で無理している他のミュージシャンに比べればよっぽど素敵だ。そんなクラプトンがここでは聴ける。ＤＶＤもおすすめ。さすがプロの演奏はすばらしい。
