この世にニルヴァーナの影響下のグループは数多く存在する。だが、the pillowsほどそのナイーヴさとポップ感の関係性を理解し、体言しているバンドはない。さすがに『ランナーズ・ハイ』と自らを評した頃の年中開店状態はなくなったものの、高次元で好調を維持していることは本作からも明らか。ライヴのダイナミズムとアクセント的なスタジオ・ワーク(今作ではチープなシンセを多用。80年代リバイバルの影響か?)とともに、ポップでエモーショナルに感情の機微を表現。そして最終的には、優しくポジティヴな印象を残していく。 (兒玉常利) --- 2002年11月号

　シンプルなロックバンドから始まり、新しい手法に挑んでは、必ずその場で到達できる最高の完成品を創り上げる。
　先人達の歩いた道を 足跡を頼りに同じように歩いていく。
　決して近道はしない。一歩 また一歩としっかり踏みしめる。

　「ピロウズ」という轍の路傍に、燦然と輝く何本目かのマイルストーン。
　溢れる挑戦心が生み出した 確かな名盤だ。

　前作より取り入れ始めた、テクノサウンドやボイスエフェクトなど エレクトリカルな手法が、中毒性の高いポップセンスに自然に入り込んできた。
　ロックが持つ骨太なイメージは薄められてしまったが、これが悪くない。
　はかなく軽いサウンドが入ることで、かえって ３ピースの生み出せる「音」を激しく感じさせてくれる。

　詩の世界も変わった。
　「理解されなくってもいい 俺は俺の道を歩いていくさ」というストイックさに加え、「分かるところまで行ってやろうじゃないか！」と意気込みを感じるようになった。

　孤高の集団が まさにSimple Skyに向けて飛び立ったようだ。

　その前向きな詩は、スピーカーを突き抜けて力を与えてくれる。
　特に『バビロン 天使の詩』『カモン・ゴースト』の勢いは ハンパじゃない。
　天に向かって 自然と拳が突きあげてしまう。

　『ロボットマン』や『サンキュー・マイ・トワイライト』の「譲れない世界にいる淋しさ」を前面に押し出した世界も顕在だ。
　他にも、つい卒業文集を探してしまいたくなる 『白い夏と緑の自転車 赤い髪と黒いギター』 などなど…
　テーマは幅広く、新しく「ピロウズ」に触れる人にも聴きやすい仕上がりになっている。

　個人的には、猫のように勝手気ままな 『Winona』 が、２年近くも心の中にあり、忘れられない思い出になっている。

　嫌なことばかりで憂鬱な人、答えを探して心がくすんでいる人。
　ぜひ、この一枚に触れて欲しい。
　くすぶっていた魂が、再び燃え上がるのを 感じることができるはずだ。

まず、これだけはいえる。
彼らは、pillowsという音楽性だけを使い、業界に勝負を挑んでいる。

その戦場に、投下されたのがこのアルバムである。
pillowsを聞いて、はまり、それを成熟していきたいと思う人に、うってつけだろうと思う。何度も聞くことをお勧めする、少し聞いただけじゃ彼らを感じることができないから。

すごいです。まさに名盤。どれも捨てられない曲揃いです。
ピロウズの音楽のクオリティーの高さがわかります。
前の人が書いていたけれど、一回聴いただけじゃだめです。一曲一曲が深いですよ、歌詞にしても音にしても。
とにかく、聴きはまること必死です。
