5.0 out of 5 stars バカを演じる賢い奴ら, 2005/6/8
数あるパンクの名盤中、スピード感、フザケ加減においては最高の部類でしょう。ピストルズが最初ハードロックに聴こえた私には、このアルバムが最もパンクサウンドらしく聴こえました。(ピストルズも大好きです念のため)　ブライアンジェームスの粘っこいSGサウンド。デイブヴァニアンの人を喰ったようなボーカル。ラットの第2のキースムーンと言われたダブルストロークで成り立ったようなドラム。実は全員かなりのテクニシャンでした。6で思いっきりリズムがズッコけたりするのも作為的にすら感じます。5なんて40秒くらいの曲です。(作業場！って聞こえますよ)
キャプテンも含めて全員本当は真面目な正統派ミュージシャンであった事は後の「ストロベリーズ」や「ファンタスマゴリア」でバレますが、この頃は全員が余裕でパンクをもて遊んでるようなところが最高にクールでカッコいいですね。

もう２０年以上音楽を聴いてくると正直耳が肥えてくる　最初聴いて良いと思った曲も月日と供に色褪せてくる、ましてやアルバムとなるとビートルズでさえつい曲を飛ばしたりしてしまったり、最後まで聴かない事も多々あるし購入して一回聴いたきりで二度と聴かないアルバムもあるし、つい評論家を気取ってそのバンドのフレーズやメロディーから○○からの影響が強いとか語ってしまうこともしばしば・・・しかしこのバンド、このアルバムだけは別であるロックに目覚めた時の初期衝動を思い出させ十代の頃の自分に戻してくれるし考えごとをしながら聴くといつの間にか終わってしまいもう一度聴き直す羽目になる、勿論曲を飛ばす必要もなく最初から最後まで勢いで聴いてしまうのがこのアルバムの正しい聴き方だ。　このバンドがどうしたとかジャケット、ファッション、テクニックがどうしたとか詳しい曲の説明など必要なしとにかく聴け！！

（pistols）（clash）をPUNKのスタンダードとするとDAMNEDは全く異質。
各曲のクオリティー・完成度は非常に高いのだが何処かフザケタ所、肩の力を抜いたような所が有り、数多の不平不満ぶちまけ型のPUNKサウンドとは一線を画しているので今後も賞味期限が切れる事無く聴き継がれるアルバムだと思います。
「Neat Neat Neat」「New Rose」の代表曲は勿論、ミディアムスローの「Fan　Club」、Stoogesの「1970」をカバーした「I Feel Alright」（GBHのカバーバージョンもカッコイイです）など名曲多数。
２ndはさておき、完成度の増した３rdも必携。
