   ディープ・パープルの1968年の初のアメリカでのヒットから、1976年のラスト・コンサートまでを網羅した作品。70曲（しかもその4分の1は未発表）を超すライヴ演奏が6枚のCDにぎっしり詰まっている。しかも全曲、EMIのアビー・ロード・スタジオでリマスターが施され、最高の音質は保証済み。ディープ・パープルをこれから詳しく知りたい人にとっては、代表曲が全てリマスターされ収録されているのが魅力。長年のファンのお目当ては、20数曲の未発表ライヴ音源、ラジオ番組でのライヴ、別ヴァージョンといったところか。さらにディープ・パープル関連の資料収集家サイモン・ロビンソン執筆の大型サイズのブックレットには、バンドの歴史が120ページにわたって詳細に記されている。また写真や切り抜き、記念品、メンバーの経歴、ディスコグラフィーも掲載。バンド結成前のメンバーによる初期の演奏を収録しているのもうれしい。


Album Details

This set tells the band's story from their first American hit in 1968 through to their final live shows in 1976. It does so through a remarkable collection of over seventy tracks (around a quarter of which are unreleased) across six packed CDs, all subject to extensive work at EMI's Abbey Road Studio to ensure the highest sound quality. If You want an in-depth introduction to the group, all their classic numbers are here, many newly remastered, while long term fans will turn to the twenty or so previously unissued live performances, radio sessions and alternate takes. In addition the box also houses a long format book written by Deep Purple archivist Simon Robinson, which tells the band's story in detail via 120 pages of text, with pictures, cuttings, memorabilia, musician profiles and discographies. The set is further enhanced by a selection of early tracks by the members of the band prior to joining

第１期から４期までをCD6枚にバランス良く代表曲と未発表発掘音源を収録した力作 CD1 ここではパープル結成前または加入前にいた各メンバーのバンドの代表曲収録、バンド名は The outlaws/M1.5/Johny kidd/Santa barbara machine head/Episode6/Trapeze/Zephyr/Goverment（なんとこのバンドにはCaverdale参加１９７１年）CD2での未発表発掘音源はBBCセッション集、スピードキングの原型 Ricochet/Jam stew/Speed king/Hard lovin man/Bloodsucker/Living wreck/ CD3では４チャンネルミックスのMandrake root/BBCセッションでのGlabsplatter/Child in time/In to the fire/Fools（ファイアーボールでのアウトテイク）CD4はこれと言って無し。CD5 Mistreated（サンディエゴでのライブ）Space trackin（ライブ イン ロンドンでの未使用テイク）CD6ではHighball shooterのインストメンタル、、、、他にもレア音源有り、お馴染の音源も24bit remasterされています。さらに詳しすぎる１２０ページのブックレット付き。全てのパープルマニア、初心者からハードな超マニアにもおすすめ！！私は星を６個付けます。★★★★★★追伸 ジャケット写真は１９７３年の６月２９日の大阪公演でアンコールに応じないパープルに腹立てて暴れまくった関西人の夢の後の現場です。（椅子がかわいそう。）写真をクリックして笑ってやって下さい。

発売当初、未発表音源が幾つか収録していたので、高額に関わらずレアな商品として売れていたが、未発表音源のフル収録のCDが出てからコレクターアイテムとなってしまった。マニア以外は必要なし。しかもアーヘンの音源とされる、マンダレイク〜はストックホルムの音源の誤り。どうしても欲しい人以外、必要なし。

6枚組み、一通り聴き終えました。。。
個人的には5枚目の第3期パープルPunch-Drunk Purple Powerの
未発表音源が期待していたものが感じられて、一番よかったです。

この盤に興味を持つということ自体、かなりなPURPLEファンだと
思うのですが、そういった意味で言うと、この盤での収穫はあまり無いと思います。

PURPLEファンならこのジャケットデザインにかなり魅力を感じる
と思うのですが、高価なセットという事を考えれば、あまりお勧めはできません。
