   チャーリー・ヘイデンのニュー・プロジェクトによる甘美なバラード集。マイケル・ブレッカー、ブラッド・メルドー、ブライアン・ブレイドを伴ったカルテットの演奏が主体で、そこに34人編成のストリングス入りオーケストラが加わるというゴージャスな趣向だ。自作のほか、パット・メセニーやオーネット・コールマン、キース・ジャレットらの曲、さらに映画曲やスタンダードも取り上げている。
   2001年9月のニューヨークのテロ事件以後、音楽にもアメリカを意識した作品が多く見受けられるようになったが、本作にもその影響は感じられる。といっても、ヘイデンはこのところ一貫して「アメリカ」や「夢」をテーマに音楽活動を行なっており、これもその延長線上にある作品といっていい。全体を包む甘くノスタルジックな雰囲気は、グッド・オールド・デイズのアメリカを思わせる雰囲気で、それはヘイデン率いるカルテット・ウエストにも通じる世界。そういう作品なのでマイケル・ブレッカーもここではおさえ気味に、しんみりと吹いている。（市川正二）

メンバーも知らず、音楽も知らず、
この写真を見ただけで買ってしまった人がいたとしたら、
その人は幸運だ。　
写真のイメージと、音楽がとても近い。
ジャケットの美しさと同じように、音
楽も色気があり穏やかで、雄大だ。

主人の二人は言うに及ばず、
メルドーのちりばめるような音のピースと、
ブレイドの広がりのある空間が、影像的な効果を生んでいる。

チャーリーヘイデンとPatMethenyの「BeyondThe Missury sky」
のジャケットにも似ている。
チャーリー自身がPatを評した言葉
「アメリカ中西部を描く印象派」
という表現がこのアルバムにもふさわしい。

~飛行機内で目覚め、眠たい目をこすりながら窓を開けたら、朝日の雲海の中を飛んでいる。その静かで雄大な美しさに言葉もなく、眠気もふっとんでただみとれている。そんな気分にさせてくれる音楽です。古き佳きアメリカ、一度でもアメリカという国にあこがれたことがある人、映画はハッピーエンドが一番という人に、ぜひ聴いて頂きたい。希望が心に灯ります。$N~~$ニアネスオブユーのしんきくささがだめな人でもこれなら、大丈夫です。~
