ジャケットはとっても優しくてふわっとした雰囲気がありますが、音は以前に比べてガッチリした印象です。まず１曲目の出だしのベースを聴いてください。明らかに前任者リチャードのほんわかとした音とは異なるのが分かるでしょう。ジョン・Ｇ・ペリーの硬派なベースがアルバム性格を決定付けている気がします。
曲は最初から最後まで素晴らしいです。その中でも特筆されるべきはやはり「狩りへ行こう」でしょう。めまぐるしく風景は変わって行きます。これはキャラヴァンが最初で最後にハードロックしている楽曲です。

一般的にはリチャードがいた頃の方がよりキャラヴァンらしいのでしょうが、ここから始まるパイ主導の方向性もとても魅力的です。その記念碑としてこのアルバムはこれからも名盤と呼ばれ続けるでしょう。

キャラヴァンの５ｔｈアルバム。前作でリチャード・シンクレアが脱退し新たな方向性を打ち出した名盤です。パイ・ヘイスティングスのヴォーカルはリチャードに比べると高音域ですがこちらもなかなかいいです。新加入のジョン・Ｇ・ペリーの硬いベースやジェフリー・リチャードソンのヴィオラの音もカントリーテイスト溢れるこの作品をより魅力的にしています。
このアルバムは何と言っても魅力的なポップソングに溢れています。特に「The Dog, The Dog, He's At Again」。キャラヴァンスタイルを詰め込んだ名曲であると思います。
また、オーケストラと共演した大作「いのししの館」もこれまでにないハードな質感がまたいいです。ヴィオラの音色がここでも大活躍しています。
「グレイとピンクの地」しか聴いてないという方、こちらも自信をもってお薦めできますよ。

最高にスリリングでミステリアスで魅力溢れるアルバム。
ﾛｯｸ･クラシック・ジャズ。多様なジャンルの音楽がこの１枚に
見事に取り入れら取り入れられて、飽きることがありません。
計算し練られて構築された楽曲群。
なのに相反して、自然でメロディアスな展開が聴く人を心地よく
虜にさせます。
『グレイとﾋﾟﾝｸの地』の魅力とは
また違った圧倒的な世界がすごいです。
